Quick reference
Where to find menusWeRelate has two menu bars at the top of the page (see the image below). The one on the left has general actions such as searching and adding new pages, while the one on the right has user actions such as signing in, setting user preferences, and accessing help. These are referred to as the top left menu and the top right menu in WeRelate help. On the left (under the WeRelate icon) are actions that are relevant for the page displayed. These might be things such as editing or renaming the page, or they might be filters on search results. This area is referred to as the left sidebar in WeRelate help. Whether in a top menu bar or the left sidebar, clicking any word followed by a triangle will display a dropdown menu of actions, while clicking any word without a triangle will execute the indicated action. Note: Where WeRelate help says to select A > B it means to click on A in one of the menu bars and then to click on B in the dropdown menu. Other page actionsMost pages have a search box immediately below the top right menu bar. Enter one or more words and select enter or click the magnifying glass to perform a site-wide search. Clicking on any link on a page will take you to another page - another WeRelate page or an external page (e.g., to see an online source). External links are (usually) identified by a symbol showing an arrow pointing out of a screen, such as in this link: Calendar. If the page is in one or more categories, these will be displayed after the page content. If you click on a category, you will see other pages in the category (and possibly some narrative about the category). Note: If you click on one of the ads (located on the right-hand side of the page, and for Person pages, immediately below the page title), you will be taken out of the WeRelate site. (WeRelate relies on ad revenue and donations. If you don't want ads, you can make a small annual donation to remove ads from your display.) |
